Helping Pets, Helping People

Westlake partners with Mission Driven to donate to veterans and pets in need.

Wednesday, December 8 was truly a great and inspiring day for Westlake Ace. Not only was it our honor to help veterans in need – we were able to help serve their furry companions as well!

Westlake partnered with Mission Driven to surprise the Veterans Community Project with a new dog play yard for the organization’s VCP Village. Located in Kansas City, The Village is an innovative community of 49 tiny houses for Veterans experiencing homelessness. Many of the residents’ dogs and cats are like family to them, so we were able to provide a recreation area for the animals to play and have fun in the community’s fenced-in dog park. We’re even having some benches built for the Veterans so they can sit and relax while their furry family members frolic!

In addition to the dog play yard, Westlake donated $5,000 for the VCP’s emergency fund, a large supply of pet toys, treats and food, and thermals, socks, and boots for the Veterans. Our vendor Hill’s Science Diet even joined in on the fun and generously donated a big supply of dry dog food and treats that VCP can use as needed.

Westlake serves and helps the communities in which we do business because we care. Especially during the holiday season, those in need – whether they be human or covered in fur – deserve warmth, food, dignity, and a smile to brighten their days.
