Westlake Ace Hardware to Open New Lenexa Store on August 20

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (August 18, 2021) – Westlake Ace Hardware will soon open its 23rd location in the Kansas City metro area. The store, located at 101^st Street and Woodland Road (one block north of K10 & Woodland) in Lenexa, Kan., is scheduled to officially open for business on Friday, August 20, 2021. A ceremonial “board cutting” and grand opening festivities will be held in September.

Kyle Doherty has been named general manager of the new Lenexa store. Doherty joined Westlake Ace in 2013 after taking a part-time seasonal job to earn extra money for Christmas. Since then, he has been promoted to various department specialist and assistant manager positions in other Westlake Ace store locations throughout the metro. Most recently, he was general manager of the Westlake Ace store at 120 N. Clairborne in Olathe, Kan.

When he’s not spending time with his family in his spare time, Kyle enjoys hunting, fishing, camping, and cheering on Sporting KC, the Royals, and the Kansas City Chiefs. “I’m looking forward to serving the Lenexa community and leading our team as we deliver on the Ace Helpful Promise every day by providing reliable service, helpful advice, and the products people need to preserve and maintain their homes,” said Doherty.

“Board Cutting” and Grand Opening Celebrations

A ceremonial board cutting by Westlake Ace leadership and Lenexa officials will be held at the new 15,000 square foot store at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 17.

On Saturday, September 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., a grand opening celebration will feature prize drawings, demonstrations by vendors, a grill demonstration, and a pet adoption event. A “20% Off Storewide Grand Opening Sale” for all merchandise purchases will be held September 24-26.

The new Westlake Ace store will sell traditional hardware products such as lawn and garden supplies, fasteners, tools, plumbing, and electrical supplies. It will also feature several specialty departments and store-within-a-store concepts, including:

• The Backyard BBQ shop will feature a full range of grills and BBQ accessories from such leading brands as Weber, Traeger, and Big Green Egg.
• The Outdoor Power Equipment department will sell a full range of gas-, electric-, and battery-powered blowers, chain saws, mowers, and string trimmers from manufacturers such as Stihl, EGO, Craftsman, and Toro.
• The Paint Studio will feature a wide range of paints and painting supplies from Benjamin Moore, Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines, Clark + Kensington, Purdy, and Kilz.
• Pet Supply will carry an extensive array of pet food, toys, grooming products, health supplies, pre-packed and bulk treats. Featured premium brands will include Blue Buffalo, Science Diet, Taste of The Wild, and Merrick.
