Westlake Ace Hardware and The Salvation Army Team Up for Annual Fan Drive to Help Communities Beat the Heat
KANSAS CITY, MO – May 19, 2025 – As temperatures rise, Westlake Ace Hardware and The Salvation Army are once again joining forces to bring summer relief to those in need through their annual Fan Drive. The campaign runs May 19 through June 7 and aims to provide new box fans to help individuals and families stay cool during the hot summer months.
Customers can support the effort by rounding up their purchases at any Westlake Ace Hardware store. All funds collected will go directly toward purchasing fans for distribution by local Salvation Army commands.
In 2024, the campaign raised $100,000, providing more than 6,000 fans to communities across the United States. What began at a single store in Hutchinson, Kansas, the Fan Drive has grown into a nationwide initiative spanning 157 stores, raising a total of $963,000 and distributing more than 65,000 fans to date.
“From the beginning, the Fan Drive has made a tangible difference in the lives of people across the country,” said Joe Jeffries, president and CEO of Ace Retail Holdings (parent company of Westlake Ace Hardware). “Our customers’ generosity continues to inspire us, and we’re proud to help provide relief to those who need it most. Giving back is part of who we are.”
“Something as simple as a fan can mean everything to someone facing extreme summer heat. Thanks to our partnership with Westlake Ace Hardware, we’re able to provide immediate, tangible help to neighbors in need,” said Commissioner Merle Heatwole, national commander of The Salvation Army.
Donations are accepted at 157 Westlake Ace Hardware-owned stores across the U.S. Every dollar raised stays in the local community, ensuring help reaches those who need it most — right where they live. Those wishing to give online can visit westlakehardware.com/fan-drive.
