Fall Mowing Tips

It's important to keep your mower blade sharp during the fall season. A dull mower blade  actually pulls at the top of the grass blade. That leaves a serrated edge which not only causes a browning at the tip, but in extreme cases can cause some types of lawn diseases.

Adjust the cutting height in the fall. Cut your grass higher. Generally speaking, a grass root system grows about as deep as the grass blades are tall, and a deeper root system results in a healthier lawn come next spring. Warm-season grasses should be cut to a height of at least two inches and cool-season grasses should be cut to three to four inches.
